PIERRE, S.D. – About 850 Pierre Governor basketball fans turned out last night for a welcome home celbration for the State Champion Pierre Governor basketball team . The Governors captured their first state basketball championship in 31 years Saturday night in the Class AA State title game against Brandon Valley. The celebration honored the seniors of this year’s team and the two division 1 college recruits in Zach Hanson who is heading to Crieghton and Lane Severyn who is SDSU bound to continue their college basketball careers. And the celebration honored Pierre Governor junior basketball player Conrad Adam who is battling a rare form of bone cancer but is still a member of the team and was in attendance and on the bench all 3 games the Governors played in the state tournament.
