PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) The Pierre-Fort Pierre Kiwanis Club is once again bringing “East of Westreville” to the Riggs High School Theater for a concert in about a week.  “East of Westreville” will be March 23 and is a combination of bluegrass, blues, gospel, folk and country music.  Proceeds from the concert will help the Kiwanis award college scholarships and support other youth programs in the Pierre-Fort Pierre area.  Dave Bonde, who organizes the event for the Kiwanis Club with Larry Johnson, says the group has a new mix of songs for 2013.

“East of Westreville” includes Boyd Bristow of “Acoustic Christmas”, Kaija Bonde, the lead performer in “Always Patsy Cline”, Brian Bonde of “The Cardigans” and Al Slaathaug of “Blueberry Buckle”.  Kenny Putnam will also join them.  Putnam is a two time South Dakota fiddle champ who began touring and recording with The Red Willow Band in 1975.  He toured and recorded with Roy Clark for over seven years appearing on programs like The Grand Ol’ Opry, The Tonight Show, and Hee Haw.

Tickets cost $10 and may be purchased in advance at Prairie Pages Booksellers, Card n’ Candy, Dakotamart, any BankWest location, American State Bank, the main branch of First National Bank, Dakota Prairie Bank or from any Kiwanis Club member.   At the door, tickets will cost $12.

The evening also includes a silent auction of “Made in South Dakota” products from about 20 different vendors.  The doors open at 6:15 p.m. and the concert starts at 7:00 p.m.
