UNDATED – (DRG News) A Harrold woman has been chosen as a winner in a program that is sponsored by the Monsanto Fund. Deb Hyde was selected as the winner in “America’s Farmers Grow Communities”, which gives farmers the chance to win a $2,500 donation to direct to their favorite local non-profit organizations. Additional support is given to counties that have been declared disaster areas due to drought by the USDA. Winning farmers in those counties are able to double the donation to a total of $5,000.
Hughes County was declared a disaster area by the USDA, which gives Hyde the chance to receive two $2,500 donations and she selected the Harrold Rural Fire Department and the Blunt Fire Department to receive the monies. There will be a check presentation which is to be attended by Hyde and representatives from the Harrold and Blunt Fire Departments and Monsanto on Monday evening. The ceremony will take place at the Harrold Fire Hall as part of the department’s monthly meeting and will start at 7:30 p.m.
