MURDO, S.D. – (DRG News) A Murdo man will appear in court next week on several charges following a shooting incident that occurred earlier this month in an area of Murdo known as Charlietown.  Jones County Sheriff John Weber says authorities were called to a trailer park in northwest Murdo on the afternoon of March 1 to the report of several shots being fired in the park–as well as in a residence.  Weber says they arrested 41-year-old Shaun Sporrer inside his residence at the park on Railroad Street.

Weber says it’s alleged that Sporrer had stolen a pistol and ammunition from another home at the park.  Weber says that he later got into an altercation with another man, took the gun out and pointed it at him.  When other people came to the scene, Weber says Sporrer left on an ATV and witnesses say they then heard several gun shots from a nearby location.  No one was hurt in the incident.

Sporrer was located inside his residence and was arrested and transported to the Winner jail where he is being held on a $15,000 bond.  Weber says Sporrer faces charges including Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, Grand Theft of a Firearm, Threatening a Law Enforcement Officer, Possession of a Firearm While Intoxicated, Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, Disorderly Conduct, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Sporrer remains in jail and will appear for a preliminary hearing on March 19 in Murdo.
