Wagner Scores Hat Trick as Capitals End Season With Win




BROOKINGS, S.D. – Austin Wagner had a hat trick to become the all time leading goal scorer in Pierre-Ft. Pierre Capitals hockey history as the Capitals downed Rushmore 5-2 in the third place game of the State High School Varsity Boys Hockey Tournament that wrapped up Sunday in Brookings.  Wagner also had two assists on the game.  He scored Pierre-Ft. Pierre’s second goal of the game in the first period that gave the Capitals a 2-0 lead.  After Rushmore scored twice in the second period to tie the game at 2, Wagner scored the game winner in the 6th minutes of the third and added the games final goal at 15:21.  Cash Anderson assisted on all 3 goals.  Wagner surpassed Matt Ferris as the all time leading goal scorer in Capitals hockey history.  Anderson had 4 assists in the game while scoring a goal.  Bo Atkins also scored for the Capitals.  Kyle Mammenga made 13 saves in the game.
