Wagner Awarded South Dakota Hockey’s Top Award

BROOKINGS, S.D. -  Austin Wagner headlined the award winners for the Pierre-Ft. Pierre Capitals as the senior took home several accolades to go along with his all-time goal scoring record as the high school hockey season came to close yesterday at the State Tournament in Brookings.   Wagner was awarded the South Dakota Sportsman of the Year Award.  South Dakota High School Hockey’s top award the Hobey Baker Award and was named the first team of the all-state team.  The senior also earned the Toshiba All-Academic Award along with teammates Kyle Mammenga, Cougar Sanchez and Grady Tibbs.  Capital’s junior Cash Anderson also was named to the first team All State squad.  Mammenga also earned 2nd team All State honors for the Capitals.  And Capitals Head Coach Rob Kittay earned Coach of the Year honors.
