SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — North Dakota U.S. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp will speak at this year’s McGovern Day Dinner in Sioux Falls.
The event is an annual celebration of the late senator and a fundraiser for the South Dakota Democratic Party. McGovern, who died in October at age 90, spoke at the dinner last year.
The Daily Republic reports that this year’s event is scheduled for April 20.
Sen. Tim Johnson will also speak at the dinner, which will be held at the Sioux Falls Convention Center.
The 57-year-old Heitkamp is a former two-term North Dakota attorney general who also ran for governor in 2000. She defeated Republican Rep. Rick Berg to win the Senate seat last fall.
