PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) Museum officials at the South Dakota Cultural Heritage Center are reminding residents that their award winning exhibit “Our South Dakota: Big Land/Big Ideas/Big Heart” will be closing this weekend. Jay Smith, director of the Museum of the South Dakota State Historical Society, says they are always sorry to see an exhibit end, but are excited by the next exhibit and the new programming opportunities it brings. “Our South Dakota” received an Award of Merit last year from the American Association for State and Local History. It has been open for 18-months. A new exhibit entitled “Furniture: The Fancy & The Functional” will open at the end of April. Museum staff plans to use some of the more popular elements of the “Our South Dakota” exhibit in other areas of the museum.
