Capitals Rally for First Round State Tournament Win




 BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Pierre-Ft. Pierre Capitals boys varsity hockey team rallied for a 7-5 win over the Huron All Stars in the opening game of the State High School Varsity boys hockey tournament in Brookings Friday afternoon. Austin Wagner erupted for 5 goals including the game winner at 9:07 of the third period. Wagner scored twice in the first period and added 3 more in the third period. Bo Atkins scored the insurance goal in the third period and Jordan Reiss scored the games first goal. Kyle Mammenga made 21 saves in the game as Pierre-Ft. Pierre outshot Huron 36-26 on the game. The Capitals move into the semi finals Saturday evening against the winner of tonight’s final game of the first day of the tournament between top seeded Brookings and 8th seeded Aberdeen.
