MITCHELL, S.D. – The Pierre Lady Governor basketball team dropped a semi final game of the District 3AA girls basketball tournament Monday night. The Lady Govs were beaten 59-40 by the top rated and defending state champion Mitchell Kernals. Mitchell jumped on the Lady Govs and sprinted out to a 27-10 first quarter lead and never led by less than 6 points the rest of the way. Macy Miller paced the Kernal attack with 19 points and Kerri Young added 18. Kristi Livermont scored 14 and Stevie Claussen came off the bench to add 11 for the Lady Govs who were outrebounded in the game 33-22. The win sends the Kernals to the championship of the District Tournament Thursday night at Aberdeen Central. The loss sends the Lady Govs to a 3rd place elimination game against Huron which Pierre will host Thursday night.
