Snowfall Tapering Off in Eastern South Dakota



SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) – A winter storm that moved into eastern South Dakota is tapering off.
The National Weather Service says the Sioux Falls airport accumulated 6.1 inches of snow through Friday morning, but heavier amounts were reported around other parts of Minnehaha and Lincoln counties.
A spotter in Marion reported 7.8 inches of snow, residents in Hayes and Hayti each reported 6.4 inches, Pickstown recorded 4 inches and Brookings saw about 3 inches.
Some of the heaviest amounts in the region were recorded nearly 90 miles south toward Sioux City, Iowa. The official total there was 8.7 inches, but reports of 10 to 11 inches have come in from the area.
