WASHINGTON, D.C. – (DRG News) Two South Dakotans are part of a group of 20 people that have been appointed to serve on the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Advisory Committee on Agriculture Statistics. The appointments were announced yesterday by USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack. The group advises Vilsack on surveys of agriculture and other related surveys; the periodic census of agriculture and the kinds of ag information to obtain from census respondents. In addition, the committee makes recommendations on the content of ag reports and it’s members help decide data to be collected and statistics issued by the National Agricultural Statistics Service. The members who have been appointed to the Ag Statistics Advisory Committee serve two years terms. South Dakotans named to the committee are Zachary Ducheneaux of Gettysburg and Larry Janssen of Volga. Other members from the region come from Minnesota,Iowa, Montana and Colorado.
