Storm Sewer Work to Begin in Southeast Pierre-Road Closures Go Into Effect Today

Barricade

PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) The City of Pierre will be closing a street segment for an extended time starting today, as crews begin work to re-construct storm sewer on Lincoln Avenue just north of the Softball Complex in southeast Pierre.  The segment of Pawn Street between Lincoln Avenue and Izaak Walton Road is to be closed beginning today.  Lynn Patton, Construction and Operations Manager for the city says those needing to access Izaak Walton Road should use Grant Street off Sully Avenue.  He says the south end of Lincoln from the alley to Pawn will also be closed.  The storm sewer reconstruction will move from the sports complex to Lincoln Avenue.  At a later date, city officials will also announce that the north end of Lincoln will also close-as will the intersection of Lincoln and Sully Avenues.  Patton asks residents to plan their travel with alternate routes-to avoid the storm sewer work.  He says it is unlawful to go around closed street barricades.
