PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) Tomorrow brings the 3rd annual Winter Fishing Weekend to Pierre/Fort Pierre. Thousands of dollars in cash and prizes will be awarded. Participants can fish from boat, shore or through the ice and fishing awards will be handed out in four fish categories including walleye, pike, bass and panfish. Todd Bowman, who is coordinating the event, says a rules meeting will be held tonight at the Ramkota starting at 7:00 p.m. Check-in is held from 4-6:30 p.m. Bowman says participants can fish anywhere on public waters.
Bowman says depending on the location, fishing right now is fairly good.
All kids who are 12 and under who are entered to fish in the tournament will get a prize.
There will be cash prizes for the biggest fish and total weight for Walleye, Northern Pike, Bass, and Panfish. All entrants are also eligible for prize drawings and a 2012 Can-Am Outlander XT 500 ATV will be raffled off. All funds taken in will go back to the anglers who participate.
