PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) Although the weather is cold now, organizers for this summer’s Oahe Days Music and Arts Festival continue to prepare for the annual celebration. Oahe Days will be June 21-23 at Steamboat Park. Brad Curtis and Jessica Stange lead the committee that is putting together this year’s Oahe Days. Stange says they are pleased to announce that they have two different types of musical groups coming to Pierre; the Dweebs-a family from Wisconsin and country band Chancey Williams and the Younger Brothers.
Curtis says picking entertainment for Oahe Days can be tough.
The 2011 flood resulted in the cancellation of Oahe Days and several of last year’s activities had to be moved from the normal venue of Steamboat Park because that area of Pierre was still in recovery mode from the flood. Curtis says it will be nice to return Oahe Days to Steamboat Park this year.
Stange says the activity calendar will feature several events. It’s expected that the statues that will be added to the Trail of Governors project in Pierre this year will be displayed. There will also be a local art show with artists from the area painting historical pieces which will be displayed for Oahe Days visitors to see. In addition, artists and craftsmen are being encouraged to show off their works and wares at Oahe Days for free. People are encouraged to watch the Oahe Days website as it is updated in the coming months at www.oahedays.com. For more information on this year’s bands, visit:
