Pierre PD Says Tuesday Morning Traffic Crash Causes Injuries to One Motorist

PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) A traffic crash at a busy Pierre intersection this morning left one motorist with non-life threatening injuries.  Pierre Police Captain Elton Blemaster says the accident was reported at 7:40 a.m. this morning at the intersection of Capitol and Highland Avenues.  A 1996 Ford pickup, driven by 62-year-old Pierre man, was westbound on Capitol Avenue and was attempting to turn south onto Highland when it collided with a 1995 GMC truck that was eastbound on Capitol.  The GMC was driven by a 28-year-old Fort Pierre man.  The Pierre man was taken to Avera St. Mary’s Hospital by ambulance for treatment of shoulder and back injuries.  He was also cited for Failure to Yield.  His Ford pickup had to be towed from the scene and sustained about $3,000 damage.
