PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) South Dakota’s well known “Great Faces, Great Places” jingle has once again been included in TV ads that are used to promote the state in various U.S. cities. The 2013 marketing campaign was unveiled at this month’s Governor’s Conference on Tourism. Like last year, the Tourism Department’s Wanda Goodman says the new minute long commercial follows the theme “Your American Journey”. The 2012 ads were missing the Great Faces jingle, but the well known theme has been reintroduced into this year’s video marketing effort.
Goodman says like the 2012 campaign, the 2013 ads feature aerial footage that was gathered across the state in 2011.
Goodman says last year, the ads brought several positive comments about the beauty of the state.
The new ads will be shown in major cities, including Des Moines and Kansas City-which are new markets the Tourism Department added last year. They will also be run in Minneapolis,Minnesota; LaCrosse and Eau Claire,Wisconsin and Omaha, Nebraska.
Goodman says the Tourism Department has used the Great Faces, Great Places jingle and positioning statement for about twenty years. She says it is widely recognized by many.
