Brey Now Serving as Acting Ranger for Fort Pierre National Grasslands

FORT PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) A new acting District Ranger is leading the Nebraska National Forests and Grassland’s Fort Pierre Ranger District.  Jason Brey officially started his detail last Tuesday and will manage the 116,000 acres of the Fort Pierre National Grasslands.  Previously, Brey worked in Cody,Wyoming as the North Zone Timber specialist for the Shoshone National Forest.  He held that position since 2010.  Brey is a native of Iron River,Michigan.  Former district ranger Ruben Leal accepted a Bureau of Land Management Position in California.  He had been in charge of the Fort Pierre National Grasslands for about four years.  Brey says he is excited to work with the staff in Fort Pierre and to have the chance to lead the district during the transition to a permanent district ranger.  Brey will have the chance to apply for the position permanently.

  1. WOW! I have been looking for Jason off and on for 25 years! We lived next door to each other (actually our houses were divided by an alley) in Iron River,MI. He was my best friend growing up. I was about 7-8 years old. Glad to see he has done so well for himself. If you could in any way pass my name off to him I’d be eternally grateful.
