PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre-Ft. Pierre Lady Capitals hockey team bounced back from a 4-2 defeat to Huron Saturday night with a 3-1 victory Sunday in a state high school league matchup at the EXPO Center in Ft. Pierre. The Lady Capitals scored 2 goals in the first period and made it standup as they won for the 8th time in their last 9 games. Sara Bachand and Emily Weber scored a pair of unassisted goals in the first period and Grace Nedved added an insurance goal on an assist from Weber midway through the 3rd period. Huron scored thier only goal of the game 2 minutes after Nedved’s goal. Lady Capital goaltender Tessa Singleton made 33 saves in the game as Huron outshot Pierre-Ft. Pierre 36-18 in the contest. With the win, the Lady Capitals improved their record to 10-4-1 with 21 points and are in second place in the high school league standings, 3 points behind front runner Brookings. The Lady Cap’s have a two point lead over 3rd place Huron. In the JV game, the Lady Capitals JV’s won their second straight over the Huron JV’s 2-1 after defeating them 3-2 on Saturday.
