PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) A Pierre man changed his plea Wednesday to a theft crime that was reported last summer.  31-year-old Christopher Big Eagle was arrested last June after a break-in was reported at River City Plumbing in Pierre.  He was indicted on Grand Theft and Burglary charges in July and originally pleaded not guilty the following month.  In court yesterday, Big Eagle changed his plea and admitted his guilt to the Grand Theft charge.  The Third Degree Burglary charge was dismissed.  He told Judge John Brown that he took scrap copper and a generator from the business.  Grand Theft is a Class 4 Felony, which carries a penalty of up to ten years, a $20,000 fine or both.  Big Eagle will be sentenced for his plea on March 19.
