MITCHELL, S.D. – The Pierre Governor basketball team won their third straight game Tuesday night as they led from start to finish in a 62-47 win over the Mitchell Kernals at the Corn Palace. The Governors began pulling away in the second quarter and led by 13 at halftime before outscoring the Kernals 17-5 in the third period to build a 25 point lead. Lane Severyn led 3 Governors in double figure scoring with 19 points. Cody Honeywell and Zach Hanson added 12 points apeice as the Governors improved to 5 and 4 on the season and Mitchell falls to 3 and 8. Seth Cavanaugh had 18 points to lead the Kernals with 16 of those coming in the first half. The Governors also dominated the boards outrebounding the Kernals by almost 20 rebounds. Pierre is off until next Tuesday when they host Aberdeen Central at Riggs High Gym.
