PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) The SDSU Extension Service in Pierre will host two private pesticide applicator certification classes next week. The first class will be in Pierre at the SDSU Pierre Regional Extension Center in the Kenyon Building at 412 West Missouri Avenue on Monday at 1:30 p.m. Central. The Monday class should be complete by 4:30 p.m. The second training will be at Bob’s Steakhouse west of Gettysburg on Wednesday, January 16 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Anyone in the state who wishes to purchase “restricted use pesticides” or who is using pesticides to produce an agricultural commodity amounting to more than $1,000 sales potential per year must obtain a private applicator certification. The certification is free and is good for five years. Those who want to become a certificate private applicator for the first time or who need to re-certify because their certification has expired should attend. Those who attend the classes must have a government issued picture ID with them. There will be several more private pesticide applicator trainings around the state in coming weeks. The list is found at http://igrow.org/up/resources/03-1002-2012.pdf.
