Department of Public Safety: Mobridge Man Killed in Sunday Traffic Crash

PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) A two vehicle crash over the weekend claimed the life of a Mobridge man.  The accident was reported Sunday evening about 5:40 p.m. on U.S. Highway 12-east of Mobridge.  The South Dakota Department of Public Safety says that 45-year-old Lynnard Keith Spiry, Jr. was the passenger in a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado, being driven east by 17-year-old Brady Troy Spiry of Mobridge.  The driver of the vehicle lost control of the pickup and the vehicle slid into the path of a 2006 Ford ambulance.  Lynnard Spiry was pronounced dead at the scene and Brady Spiry received minor injuries.  Authorities say that 78-year-old Edward Fried of Mobridge was driving the ambulance, which was returning from a transport and was not carrying any patients.  Fried and a passenger, 31-year-old Hayley Marie Nickels of Mobridge, received minor injuries.  All four of those involved in the accident were wearing seatbelts.  The accident occurred just east of the Highway 12/SD Highway 1804 junction.
