Cen-Kota Republican Women Present American Flag to Local Business

New Flag Provided by Cen-Kota Women November 30, 2012

PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) Members of a local organization donated a new American flag to a Pierre business Friday.  The Cen-Kota Republican Women provided the flag to the Governor’s Inn of Pierre as part of their Americanism Project-which raises awareness of flag protocol and promotes patriotism.  The club started the project about four months ago and its members have been watching for flags at Pierre and Fort Pierre businesses that were in poor condition.  Cen-Kota President Teresa Bray says that quite a number of flags were affected by a wind storm earlier this fall.  She says in a press release that “the American flag means a lot to our country and we don’t want our community to misrepresent that in any way”.  The manager of the Governor’s Inn, John Poncelet, accepted the flag on behalf of the business on Friday.  Cen-Kota Republican Women serves Hughes and Stanley counties.  It is a local unit club of the South Dakota Federation of Republican Women and the National Federation of Republican Women.

  1. The Americanism Project promotes patriotism and is an effort to get citizens to better understand the U.S. Flag code. Sounds like our kind of project!
