BROOKINGS, S.D. – Three second period goals by Cash Anderson, Jace Jerome and Austin Wagner were all that the Pierre-Ft. Pierre Capitals Varsity hockey team needed as the Cap’s downed Brookings 3-2 yesterday splitting the two game series between the two squads over the weekend.  Brookings won Saturday’s contest 7-2.  Wagner’s goal at 13:19 of the second period proved to be the game winner as Brookings scored one goal in the first and another in the third period.  Kyle Mammenga made 18 saves for the Capitals.

PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre-Ft. Pierre Capitals girls varsity hockey team lost both games played over the weekend to Brookings.  After the Lady Rangers recorded a 6-2 win over Pierre-Ft. Pierre on Saturday, they followed that up with a closer 3-2 win over the Lady Cap’s yesterday at the EXPO Center.  Pierre-Ft. Pierre built a 2-0 lead after the first period on goals by Trad Corcoran and Sarah Bachand but Brookings battled back with 3 unanswered goals in the second period to take the lead that they would not relinquish.  Brookings peppered Lady Capital goalie Tessa Singleton with 57 shots on goal, 54 of which she saved.
