Capitals and Lady Capitals Lose to Brookings on Saturday

 BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Pierre-Ft. Pierre Capitals varsity hockey team jumped out a 2-0 lead after the first period, but Brookings came back with 4 second period goals to take the lead and not relinquish it in a 7-3 state high school hockey league matchup in Ft. Pierre on Saturday. Austin Wagner scored Pierre’s 2 first period goals and Jace Jerome netted a goal in the third period after Brookings built a 6-2 lead. Brookings scored their final goal in the last minute of the game. Kyle Mammenga had 32 saves for Pierre-Ft. Pierre. The two teams play again at 4 pm today in Brookings.

PIERRE, S.D. – Jocelyn Gray and Gabbie Vizcarra scored a pair of first period goals but Brookings rallied with 5 unanawered goals in the second and third periods to claim a 6-2 win over the Pierre-Ft. Pierre Lady Capitals in a high school league game played Saturday in Ft. Pierre. Hallie Theodosopoulus had a hat trick for Brookings. Sierra Winter assisted on both of the Lady Capitals goals and Tessa Singleton made 32 saves in goal for the Lady Caps who play Brookings again this afternoon at 1 pm at the EXPO Center in Ft. Pierre.
