PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) A man was arrested around mid-day Sunday after police were told that a person had sustained a minor stab wound earlier in the day. Pierre Police Captain Elton Blemaster says officers were called to the Capitol Inn and Suites on Sunday morning just before four o’clock. He says a 21-year-old man sustained a minor stab wound in the shoulder area at the Chekker’s parking lot and the cut did not require medical attention. About seven hours later, police arrested 20-year-old Randy Hairybird. He was first seen near Highland Avenue and Elizabeth Street. Blemaster says Hairybird took off running and was taken into custody about 11:50 a.m. in a nearby alley. Authorities say Hairybird resisted being arrested by struggling with officers. It’s also alleged that he spit in the face of one of the officers that was at the scene where the arrest took place. Hairybird was taken into custody on charges of Aggravated Assault, Sliming, Underage Purchase or Possession of Alcohol and Resisting Arrest.
