PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) Now that the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department has approved the city of Pierre’s request to thin the number of deer within city limits, Pierre officials have announced that names will soon be taken of those who want to receive a harvested deer. Game officials approved the harvest of 20 antlerless deer through March 1. City Commissioner Jeanne Goodman says the harvest will begin this Saturday, November 17 and it will be conducted in accordance with the city’s Deer Management Plan. Citizens who are interested in having their name put on a list to receive a deer from the harvest can call the Police Department at 773-7413 starting at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday morning.
