PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) A Pierre man was sentenced Tuesday for his no contest plea to one count of Possession of Child Pornography. A seven year sentence in the state penitentiary for 24-year-old Shawn Mohr was suspended; however, he was placed on probation for seven years. He must serve 90 days in jail and was given credit for two days. Mohr was originally indicted for ten counts of Possession of Child Porn. He entered a no contest plea to one count in August and the remaining counts were dismissed. Hughes County Deputy States Attorney Wendy Kloeppner says Mohr was indicted in July of last year, following an investigation which showed images of child porn on a computer in Mohr’s home. At Tuesday’s sentencing, a judge also ordered that Mohr pay a $1,000 fine, $104 in court costs, $1,100 for a psychosexual evaluation and he must also make a $2,000 donation to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Mohr asked for a suspended imposition of sentence in the case, but the request was denied. Kloeppner says Mohr must register as a sex offender and follow other court imposed conditions.
