PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) Monday will bring the first day that Pierre and Fort Pierre area residents can begin guessing “Who is Jolly the Mystery Snowman?” The mystery snowman contest kicks off the Pierre Area Chamber of Commerce’s holiday campaign. The winner will take home $500 Pierre Pride Dollars. Chamber CEO Laura Schoen Carbonneau says in a press release that Jolly is the new mascot for the Parade of Lights. The Mystery Snowman contest is a way to bring attention to the parade and to draw attention to the upcoming holiday shopping season. Schoen Carbonneau says clues will be released through the Chamber’s website at www.pierre.org, through the Chamber’s weekly What’s Happening e-mail, and on the Chamber’s Facebook page. Local radio stations and Oahe TV will also offer weekly clues. Guesses can be submitted on the chamber’s website through the “Who is Jolly” link that will be added on the homepage on Monday. Anyone who correctly identifies Jolly will have their name entered into a drawing and on November 26, Jolly will be unveiled at the Pierre Mall and the cash prize winner will be drawn. Also throughout November, Jolly will make appearances at weekly Christmas Cash Mobs-which are set up to stimulate the local economy. The first stop will be Friday, November 2 at the SD Heritage Store at the Cultural Heritage Center. The annual Parade of Lights will be on Friday, November 23 in Pierre.
