McINTOSH, S.D. – (DRG News) The Bureau of Indian Affairs was called to investigate a weekend accident in which a vehicle driven by a McLaughlin man struck two utility poles and a house. Corson County Sheriff Keith Gall says the man was driving a 1995 Nissan Pathfinder west on Highway 12 in McLaughlin early Sunday morning when the vehicle ran off the road. Gall says the SUV hit a street light pole-breaking the pole-then sideswiped a utility pole and slid into a nearby home. The residence sustained damage to the exterior wall and there was some damage inside the home. The vehicle hit the area of the home where the living room is located. Gall says a person was in the living room sleeping on the couch, but luckily was not injured. The SUV driver was taken to the hospital for what were said to be non-life threatening injuries. The vehicle was totaled and Gall says he does not have an estimate of damages for the home. Agencies that responded Sunday included the BIA, Standing Rock Ambulance and Corson County Sheriff’s Office.
