Wind Sock Sign

PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) Yesterday’s high winds resulted in at least two accidents in Pierre that were called into Pierre Police. Captain Elton Blemaster says that winds caused a light fixture within the Ramkota parking lot to fall on a car around 9:00 a.m. Thursday. The fixture struck a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix owned by a company from Sturgis. The damage to the car was estimated at $900 and the fixture sustained about $300 damage.
About forty minutes later, a pickup truck pulling a trailer lost control when winds blew the trailer over. The truck had been westbound on 4th Street about 9:40 a.m. Thursday morning. The truck was driven by a 55-year-old Pierre man. His 2012 Ford F350 received about $5,500 damage and the trailer’s damage total was $8,000.
