Local Scouts to Hold Food Drive for the Community

Boy Scouts Food Drive

FORT PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) Local Boy Scouts in the Pierre/Fort Pierre area will place Scouting for Food bags on doors around the two communities beginning this weekend-as they begin their annual drive to collect non-perishable goods for the local food bank. On Saturday, October 27, Scouts will again go around to pick up filled food bags. Those that will not be home on the day Scouts plan to pick up bags can simply hang them on the front door or leave the filled bag in a visible location. The Scouting for Food Drive benefits local residents who utilize the services of the food bank. Last year, over 75,000 pounds of food was collected throughout the Sioux council’s 61-county service area. Besides the Scouting for Food drive, local scouts also help the area by working to clean up parks and the Arboretum, and assist with disaster relief.
