KGFX Offers Detector and Battery Donation During Fire Prevention Week

Smoke Detector Donation


PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) KGFX and the Dakota Radio Group gave a donation last week to the Pierre Fire Department-as part of the annual Fire Prevention Week designation. The station provided a stockpile of smoke detectors and batteries to the department and made the presentation to Deputy Chief Ian Paul last Thursday. The donation included 24 smoke detectors and 144 nine-volt batteries. Paul says the detectors and batteries will be added to the department’s current stockpile of smoke detectors-which are given out for free to anyone that needs them.

November 4 brings the end to Daylight Savings Time and Paul says the change typically brings a reminder for people to change their smoke detector batteries.
