PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) Staff members of Oahe Downstream Recreation Area and a Pierre man were honored recently by the Game, Fish and Parks Department’s Division of Parks and Recreation. Al Nedved was given an Award of Appreciation. Doug Hofer, state Parks and Recreation director says that Nedved received the award for going above and beyond over the past year by managing large flood recovery projects across the state. Hofer says in a press release that Nedved did a great job of re-prioritizing the parks improvement projects and work schedules following last year’s flood.
Also honored were staff members of Oahe Downstream Recreation Area-who were given a teamwork award. The award went to the group for their work in recovering from the 2011 flood while relocating the slips and other facilities for Spring Creek Marina at the same time. Hofer says the staff at Oahe Downstream moved the marina system at Spring Creek during the winter months while working to restore Oahe Downstream property from the flood. He says the team did a great job of getting the parks up and running, plus maintaining them during the summer of 2012-which was one of the busiest park seasons ever. Members of the team include Pat Buscher, Erik Richter, Dan Shaffer, Tuck Durham and Ross Hatheway.
