Pierre Woman Charged After Friday Night Incident

PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) A Pierre woman was arrested on various charges after police responded to a report that she was attempting to assault another person with a knife and a pair of scissors. Pierre Police Captain Elton Blemaster says officers were called to the Pierre Inn and Suites about 10:40 p.m. on Friday night where they were told that a woman was attempting to hurt a man with a scissors and a knife. The man being threatened was able to get outside. When police arrived, Blemaster says the woman, 21-year-old Amada Portillo, reportedly refused to drop the items. Blemaster says Portillo was tased. He also says she spit on an officer. Portillo was arrested for Intentional Damage to Property-$400 or Less for causing minor damage to a patrol car. She also is charged with Resisting Arrest, Aggravated Assault Against a Law Officer, Aggravated Assault and Sliming. Portillo was taken to the Hughes County Jail.
Earlier on Friday morning, officers arrested a man on an assault charge. Blemaster says it’s alleged that 35-year-old Antoine Camp used a b-b gun pistol and shot a woman at a very close range. The woman drove herself to the hospital later and a b-b was found. Blemaster says Camp is from Pierre and he was taken into custody for Aggravated Assault Domestic Violence.
