FORT PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) This Saturday brings a fun day for all ages to Fort Pierre. The Casey Tibbs South Dakota Rodeo Center will have a branding event from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Ranchers can permanently burn their brand into the Rodeo Center timbers-and add to the hundreds of brands that are already displayed on the building walkway. There will be mechanical bull rides on the grounds of the center from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for $10 a ride. The bull can be changed to adjust to different riding levels. A chili cook-off will take place from 11:30 to 1:00 p.m. Visitors can try different chilis along with fresh cornbread for $5.00 and vote for the best chili selection. Also in Fort Pierre Saturday, it will be the 15th annual Stirling Family Memorial Ranch Rodeo at the Stanley County Fairgrounds. The event started in 1998 and has evolved into a ranch rodeo that brings contestants from across the region to showcase ranching traditions. Money raised during the ranch rodeo goes to help area families fight cancer. So far 80 families have benefited from over $25,000 raised. The 50-team long-go round starts at 10:00 a.m. A free-will donation barbeque and silent auction will run at 5:00 p.m. The top 10 teams will take part in the Calcutta short go action at 6:00 p.m. followed by a dance.
