PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) Pierre’s Water Department spent more than two hours working on a water main break that was reported Wednesday afternoon on the upper block of Pierre Street between Capitol Avenue and Pleasant Drive. Lynn Patton, Construction and Operations Manager for Pierre says that the water main in that area of Pierre dates back to about 1926. Work to excavate the area around the broken main began about 6:00 p.m. yesterday and 6-8 businesses and about six upper level residential customers were without water during the repair. Patton said last night that the service was restored before nine p.m. Wednesday evening.
