GLENHAM, S.D. – (DRG News) A local man turned celebrity almost over night. Casey Perman of Glenham is the 2012 South Dakota Auctioneer Champion as he brings home a plaque and belt buckle from the South Dakota State Fair that says so. The Executive Secretary of the South Dakota Auctioneers Association Dawn Luckett says there are five judges in each category. One hundred points are possible; and each contestant brings three items to sell themselves. Then they go through all of the auctioneers and pick the top three to compete in one more round where they get to sell three more items. The Judges use the same score sheets for the final round. The South Dakota Auctioneers Association has been an organization for the last fifty years. A convention is held once a year to keep up on Education for those that have real estate classes. Luckett says they are working on possibly having a competition at the Stock Show in Rapid City this coming January and the 2013 convention will be held in Rapid City.
Perman gets the privilege to emcee the fun auctionette convention and he will also get to go back to the South Dakota State Fair where he will emcee next year’s competition. (Story courtesy of Spencer Gosch of KOLY)
