PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) The museum at the South Dakota Cultural Heritage Center at Pierre will be open for Monday’s Labor Day holiday. The hours that day will be from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. Central Time. All other offices of the South Dakota State Historical Society, including the archives research room, will be closed Monday. Starting next Tuesday, September 4, the museum will be closing earlier. Hours will be Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sundays and holidays from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. Jay D. Vogt, Director for the South Dakota State Historical Society-which is based at the center-says in a press release that the Cultural Heritage Center is open all year, with the exception of four days. He says there are expanded hours in the summer and they will be going back to regular hours after Labor Day. Admission to the museum is free on the first Sunday of each month. The archives research room will not be open on Saturday. Hours for the public to visit the archives are 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and the first Saturday of each month.
