SD Governor Urges Safe Travel on Labor Day Weekend

Governor Dennis Daugaard

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) – Gov. Dennis Daugaard is urging South Dakota motorists to use care when traveling over the Labor Day weekend.
The governor says 10 people were killed and 247 others were injured in crashes on South Dakota’s roads during the past five Labor Day weekends. He says four of the fatalities were in crashes that involved alcohol.
The governor says people should use a designated sober driver and make sure to never drink and drive. He says travelers should also use seat belts and comply with speed limits.
Daugaard says most accidents are preventable if drivers make safe choices.
