PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) A California woman and her unborn child died in a one vehicle accident that occurred about two miles east of Kadoka on Interstate 90 during the noon hour Wednesday. A news release from the South Dakota Department of Public Safety says 34-year-old Ashley Greywoode of Pasadena was a passenger in a 2004 Ford Escape. Her husband, 31-year-old Jewel Greywoode was driving the vehicle, which also carried two young children, who were secured in car seats in the rear seat. The vehicle was headed west on the interstate and Greywoode attempted to pass a truck when a rear tire blew. The vehicle entered the median and rolled. All occupants of the vehicle were wearing safety restraints; however Ashley Greywoode suffered fatal injuries, as did her unborn child. Jewel Greywoode received serious non-life threatening injuries and the young children-ages 2 and 3-received minor injuries. The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene of the accident yesterday.
