SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) – Former attorney general Larry Long has been named the next presiding judge in South Dakota’s largest judicial circuit.
South Dakota Supreme Court Chief Justice David Gilbertson announced the appointment in the Second Judicial Circuit on Tuesday. Long will move into the position when Presiding Judge Kathleen Caldwell retires in January. A presiding judge is the administrative head of a judicial circuit.
Long was attorney general from 2003-2009, when he was appointed a circuit court judge in the Second Circuit, which includes Minnehaha and Lincoln counties.
