2 People Killed in 1-Car Crash Near Martin

MARTIN, S.D. (AP) – Two people have died and two people received life-threatening injuries in a one-vehicle crash near Martin.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol says 44-year-old Marvin Poorbear of Springfield, S.D., was driving east on U.S. Highway 18 early Monday morning when he lost control of the vehicle and it rolled. Poorbear, who was wearing a seatbelt, was killed. Three passengers who were not wearing seatbelts were thrown from the vehicle.
Twenty-three-year-old Melisa Cummings of Martin died. The other two passengers were taken to a Sioux Falls hospital.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
