BLUNT, S.D. – (DRG News) This weekend brings BluntFest 2012 to the city of Blunt. Organizers have put together a weekend full of activities as part of this year’s event. Committee member Heather Sperry says plans call for a motorcycle poker run today at 6:00 p.m., a supper-which includes a pie and ice cream social-along with a night parade to be followed by fireworks. Tomorrow, Sperry says the day will be a full one-starting with breakfast at the senior center. There will also be other activities like the Jonathan Fanger Memorial Bean Bag Tournament, a lawnmower poker run and a rib supper.
Funds raised through the beanbag tournament will be donated to the Friends for Life Suicide Prevention organization in Pierre.
Another one of the activities tomorrow morning will be the Steve Russell Memorial 5K Run and 1.5 mile fun walk. Sperry says registration times are 7:15 a.m. and 7:45 a.m.
Proceeds raised in the run/walk event will go to the Blunt City Decoration Fund. River Cities Public Transit is going to run buses back and forth from Blunt to Pierre. Look for BluntFest schedules posted at various locations throughout the area and enjoy the weekend in Blunt!
