Power Outage Impacts Pierre Neighborhood for Two Hours

Electrical Cord Plug

PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) A few electrical customers in Pierre were without power this morning. Ryan Grant, Electric Department Superintendent, says the outage was in the Buchanan School area and started about 7:50 a.m. About 40 residential customers were impacted by the outage, as was Buchanan School, the School District Maintenance Shop and Oahe Child Development. Grant says the cause of the outage was a failed splice in one of the primary power cables. The splice was replaced and power was restored about 9:50 a.m. this morning.
