Winner Man Pleads Guilty in Federal Court to Voluntary Manslaughter

PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) A Winner man pled guilty to Voluntary Manslaughter in federal court. U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says 19-year-old Taylor White Buffalo made an appearance yesterday before U.S. District Judge Roberto Lange and admitted his guilt to the charge. Federal officials say that White Buffalo was intoxicated and upset on April 13 when he encountered another person. White Buffalo struck, beat and kicked the victim which caused the man to suffer blunt force trauma to the head and body. The man died from his injuries. White Buffalo will be sentenced on November 13 and the maximum penalty he faces for Voluntary Manslaughter is 15 years in custody, a $250,000 fine or both. He is in the custody of the U.S. Marshal until his sentencing hearing.
