UNDATED – (DRG News) Preparations continue in the Pierre and Stanley County School Districts; for the start of a new school year. School begins August 22 in both districts. Yesterday, a new teacher in-service was held for instructors in Pierre schools, as attendees learned about administrative issues in the morning and later in the day-went to the buildings where they will teach to learn more from current teachers. Pierre School Superintendent Dr. Kelly Glodt said it’s a busy time for all school employees. Common core training is underway this week for educators; coming up Monday, teachers will take part in a welcome back event and the board will hold a board retreat early in the week, as well.
The Pierre School District has 12 new teachers this year. Five of the teachers are newcomers to the profession and the other seven bring about 44 years of experience to the district.
