PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) The Pierre School Board approved the hiring of a new school psychologist for the district at yesterday’s monthly meeting. Jennifer Johnson will come to Pierre after serving as a school psychologist for 4 ½ years in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Former school psychologist Margaret Pier announced her retirement earlier this year and the school board accepted it in May. Pierre School Superintendent Dr. Kelly Glodt says district officials were pleased to be able to replace Pier with a full time psychologist before the start of the new school year.
Glodt says psychologists work within the district to test students and offer other types of assistance.
Johnson will base her work from Georgia Morse Middle School. The district plans to contract services with Pier and she will keep an office she previously had at McKinley Elementary.
