WINNIPEG, Manitoba. – The Sioux Falls Pheasants scored two runs against the Winnipeg Goldeyes on Wednesday night to tie the game, but Amos Ramon’s walkoff single in the bottom of the ninth gave Winnipeg a 3-2 victory and a three-game sweep of the Pheasants. Superb starting pitching dominated from both sides. Pheasants starter Mitchell Clegg turned in a quality start through 6 2/3 innings, allowing just single runs in the third and fifth inning. He walked four and struck out three before yielding the ball to reliever Alan DeRatt (3-6). Winnipeg starter Todd Privett pitched into the ninth inning, shutting out the Pheasants on seven hits for 8 1/3 innings, but took a no-decision. Cory Morales, Jared Bolden, Taylor and Quintana each had two hits for the Pheasants. Alan DeRatt suffered his first loss in relief for the Pheasants while Chris Allen (5-5) earned the win in relief for the Goldeyes. The Pheasants, losers of five straight, will not play the Goldeyes again this season after 17 contests. Sioux Falls won just four of them. After a off day today, the Pheasants return home to open a series against Fargo Moorhead tomorrow night.
